Think Kindness Shoe Drive Challenge
ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN:
Our non-profit, Think Kindness conducts four Global Acts of Kindness each year throughout Africa and Costa Rica. During these trips, we support several orphanages in the area to distribute gently used sneakers.
WHY SHOES:
• Three hundred million children go barefoot every day.
• There are 2.4 billion new shoes purchased each year in the United States.
• Many children in developing countries are required to have shoes to attend school.
HOW IT WORKS:
• Students will be challenged to collect gently used sneakers.
• Students may drop the shoes off in their classroom or a central drop-off location.
• We will send pre-paid shipping bags to the school. Each bag holds 25 pairs of shoes.
• The shoes will be picked up via FedEx / UPS. We cover the expense.
WHERE WILL THE SHOES GO:
• Some of the shoes will join us during one of our four core trips.
• Some shoes will be sent in bulk to areas in need of natural disasters.
• About 15% of the shoes will remain in the US to help individuals in need.
• Shoes deemed ‘too worn’ to give away will be turned into playground equipment.
